For travellers wanting scenery, we take the Hai Van Pass road instead of the tunnel. We avoid the inner city roads of Da Nang by using the coastal bypass road to save time. The final leg uses the Lac Long Quan road to enter the northern side of Hoi An.
Operational Reality Heavy rain during the monsoon months from October to December can cause minor flooding on low-lying sections of Highway 1A. We monitor the mountain pass conditions closely as fog often reduces visibility at the summit during the early morning. Traffic increases significantly around the Da Nang city bypass during the late afternoon rush hour.
Seasonal Notes The dry season from March to August offers the best driving conditions with clear views on the pass. October and November are the wettest months and may involve slower travel due to heavy rainfall.
