Da Nang to Ba Na Hills — Private Car vs Bus vs Train

For a group of 4, the private car works out at $5.50 per person — comparable to a sleeper bus or overnight train when you account for door-to-door pickup, flexible timing, and no connections.

Shared Tourist Shuttle Bus

$5–$8 / person

  • Da Nang city centre hotels or travel agency offices
  • Daily departures typically occur between 07:30 and 08:30 with return trips at 16:00.
  • The service follows the main Hoang Van Thai corridor directly to the cable car entrance.

⚠ Fixed pick-up times mean travellers often spend forty minutes stopping at various hotels before the journey actually begins.

Ride-hailing Application

$14–$18 / person

  • Any location within the Da Nang urban area
  • Available on demand twenty-four hours a day via mobile applications.
  • The route uses Dien Bien Phu street before connecting to the Hoang Van Thai highway.

⚠ Drivers frequently attempt to negotiate a private return deal outside the app, which can be confusing for international visitors.

Choose Your Vehicle Class & Fixed Rate

Couples and solo travellers Couples or solo travellers visiting the Golden Bridge for photography will find this the most efficient choice. The boot space easily accommodates two standard suitcases and day packs for a day trip.
Families with children Small families heading to the Fantasy Park indoor games area benefit from the extra height and visibility. The vehicle handles the slight incline toward the cable car base station with more power than a standard car.
Groups and large families Larger groups or multi-generational families visiting the Linh Ung Pagoda require the extra legroom for a comfortable journey. Carrying strollers and various bags is much easier with the high ceiling and wide sliding door access.

Da Nang to Ba Na Hills Route Logistics & Driver Insights

Road Decision We utilise the Hoang Van Thai highway because it is the most modern and direct route to the Ba Na Hills entrance. This road is specifically designed for tourist traffic and avoids the narrow residential streets of the Hoa Vang district. We bypass the National Highway 1A intersection to avoid heavy truck traffic heading north toward Hue.
Operational Reality Weekend traffic is the primary variable, as local visitors from Da Nang and Quang Nam flock to the hills on Saturdays and Sundays. Heavy morning mist between January and March can reduce visibility on the final five kilometres of the Hoang Van Thai road. We monitor the tour bus arrival patterns to avoid the 08:30 rush at the main ticket gate.
Seasonal Notes The best months are April to August when skies are generally clear for views from the summit. October and November are the peak rainy months, often bringing heavy downpours that can make the mountain road slick.
Pickup & Drop-off Specifics Drop-off and pick-up occur at the public car park or the designated VIP lane near the cable car ticket offices. Drivers cannot wait directly at the entrance, so we coordinate a specific meeting point via messaging apps. There is a short three-minute walk from the car park to the main entrance foyer.

What passengers say about this route

The driver arrived early at our hotel near My Khe Beach for the trip to Ba Na Hills. We used the Hoang Van Thai road which was very quiet on a Tuesday morning. The drive took exactly fifty minutes as promised. It was a bit cloudy at the base station but the car was clean and the air conditioning worked well throughout the short journey.

We booked an SUV for the return leg from the cable car station back to Da Nang. The vehicle was spacious enough for our large suitcases and the ride was smooth. There was some heavy traffic near the Dien Bien Phu overpass which added ten minutes to the trip. The driver was professional and helped us find the correct drop-off point at the airport terminal.

Ba Na Hills → Da Nang

SUV · 2026-03

Our group of six took a van to see the Golden Bridge and the French Village. The road is in good condition though there was some minor construction noise near the city outskirts. We reached the Suoi Mo ticket area in under an hour. It is a very straightforward route and much more comfortable than the crowded buses we saw at the main entrance.

Bana Hills with 11 people including a kid — they helped arrange the entry tickets which made it so much easier. In the evening we also asked last minute to extend to Dragon Bridge and night market, it wasn’t in the plan but they sorted it quickly. The driver was good and we enjoyed the trip in safe way. We suggest your service to our friends!
