The road is fully paved and features a central divider for the majority of the distance which increases safety during overtaking. We avoid the smaller inland roads because they are narrower and often have weight restrictions that do not suit our larger vehicles. Our drivers stay on the main bypasses to avoid the busiest parts of Dong Ha and Quang Tri towns.Operational Reality
The primary variable on this route is the heavy commercial traffic passing through the Dong Ha city centre in Quang Tri. We typically encounter congestion at the major intersections where regional trucks merge onto Highway 1 during the middle of the day. Road conditions are generally excellent in 2026 but we watch for sudden weather changes that can affect visibility on the exposed coastal sections.Seasonal Notes
