Ho Chi Minh City to Da Lat Route Logistics & Driver Insights
Road Decision
We use the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay expressway to bypass the industrial traffic in Bien Hoa. From Dau Giay, we join Highway 20, which is the primary artery into the Central Highlands. We avoid older provincial roads because Highway 20 offers more reliable rest facilities and better surfacing. The choice between Prenn Pass or Mimosa Pass depends on current traffic reports at the time of arrival.Operational Reality
Heavy truck traffic carrying vegetables from the highlands often slows down the climb through Bao Loc Pass. Weekend congestion is common as city residents head to the mountains, specifically on Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings. Fog frequently reduces visibility on the final approach to the plateau during early morning or late night trips.Seasonal Notes
The best months are November to March when the weather is dry and the wild sunflowers are in bloom. May to October is the rainy season, which can lead to slower travel times on mountain passes due to heavy mist.Pickup & Drop-off Specifics
We provide door-to-door service to hotels within the city centre of both locations. Some villas in Da Lat are located on narrow, steep alleys that larger vans cannot enter. In these cases, we drop passengers at the closest accessible point, usually within a short walk of the entrance.Ho Chi Minh City to Da Lat — Route Details and Distance

Reviews for Ho Chi Minh City to Da Lat

Excellent private car service. We gave the exact address of our eco-resort outside the city center and the driver took us straight to the reception lobby. Very smooth and quiet electric sedan. Much better than taking a public bus and then needing to find a local taxi.

Booked a private 7-seater from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Lat for 4 people during Tet. The booking process was smooth and professional — they responded quickly, gave a detailed all-inclusive quote and the driver info was sent in advance. Driver Mr Vu arrived on time and spoke English which was helpful. One thing to note — when I came back 2 days after getting the initial quote to confirm the booking, the price had already gone up from 3,700,000 to 4,400,000 VND. They did warn that Tet prices change daily so I accepted it, but just be aware — if you like the price, book it immediately. Overall good reliable service, would use again.

Dead easy transfer. Picked us up right from Saigon airport after our flight from Sydney and took us straight to our hotel in Da Lat. It’s a proper long drive (took us nearly 6 hours with a lunch stop) but the SUV was comfortable and had chargers for our phones. Beats catching another flight or a bus.

We requested an infant car seat for our 2-year-old on WhatsApp, which they provided for free. The drive up the mountain pass is incredibly twisty and our daughter got carsick about 4 hours in. The driver was super understanding, pulled over immediately so we could clean up, and gave us extra wet tissues from the front. The trip took longer than expected because of the stop, but the service was great.

The private car itself was fine and clean, but the weather ruined the trip. It poured down rain for the last 3 hours of the drive and the fog was so thick we couldn’t see anything out the windows as we got into the mountains. If you easily get bored sitting in a car for 6 hours, maybe just fly instead.
