Ta Dung Lake to Da Lat Timeline & Driver Insights

What passengers say about this route

Our sedan driver picked us up right at our eco-lodge overlooking the lake islands. The winding descent down National Highway 28 through the tea and coffee hills towards Di Linh was smooth and scenic. We noticed a brief stretch of road maintenance near Dak Som, but it caused no major delay. Reaching our hotel in central Da Lat in just over three hours made our transfer completely effortless.

Ta Dung Lake → Da Lat

Sedan · 2026-10

We booked an SUV transfer in the reverse direction from Da Lat down to Ta Dung Lake for a weekend trip. Riding down through the pine forests and into the Dak Glong valley was visually stunning. The tight mountain bends required a careful pace, but our vehicle felt sturdy and handled the slopes without effort. It was a very reliable way to get directly to the lake viewpoint.

Da Lat → Ta Dung Lake

SUV · 2026-06

Travelling as a group of six with heavy luggage, the private van gave us plenty of space on the steep mountain climbs. Merging onto National Highway 20 at Di Linh had moderate lorry traffic, but our driver navigated it calmly. We made a short stop near a roadside coffee shop to take photos of the valley. Total driving time matched the expectation perfectly.

Took this from our glamping place overlooking Ta Dung Lake straight to our hotel in Da Lat. The driver was right on time at 9am. Glad we booked a private car because local buses in Dak Som are pretty much non-existent unless you want to haul bags to the main junction. The road through the hills gets pretty twisty, but the SUV was super comfy and handled the climb easily. Took just over 3 hours.

The most popular scenic stop is the Dak Som viewpoint along National Highway 28, where you get wide photo angles across the lake islands. Drivers can also stop at local coffee farm stalls near the Di Linh junction before joining National Highway 20.

Mountain mist and sudden heavy rain downpours can reduce visibility along the high pass sections of National Highway 28, particularly between May and October. Private cars handle these wet mountain conditions safely by maintaining controlled speeds and avoiding risky passing manoeuvres.
